Lost on a Mountain in Maine
Source: Amazon
Author: Donn Fendler, edited by Joseph Egan
State: ME
- From an Amazon reader: "It's a little misleading to have this billed as for "Ages 9 to 12": it's worth reading by people of any age. I'd heard the book recommended by several people that I'd hiked with in Maine, and it lived up to the recommendations, and more so. A simple story, but surprisingly moving. Read it if you plan to climb Katahdin (or climb anywhere above treeline, in the Whites, for example): beware, this could happen to you!" (1992)

Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga
Source: Amazon
Author: William W. Fitzhugh (editor)
- From an Amazon reader: "If you know only a little about Vikings, and want to know a lot more, this is the book to get. Lavishly illustrated, although, as another reader pointed out, a little big for bedtime reading or the train. I really liked the way the book recalls the entire Norse history -- from the 700s right up to the Minnesota Vikings." (2000)
