World War II: The Lost Color Archives on DVD

The History Channel's remarkable collection of rare color footage filmed during WWII. An Amazon.com reviewer wrote, "This is the most astonishing, complete and concise documentary I have EVER had the pleasure of viewing. Worth twice the price. I am a WWII collector and I can say without a doubt that this set is a MUST for any WWII collector!" I'll leave it at that. (2001)

    Enemy at the Gates (DVD)
    Source: Jean-Jacques Annaud, director
A magnificent modern WWII movie! A Russian sharpshooter (Jude Law) and a German sharpshooter (Ed Harris) duel at the Battle of Stanlingrad. This movie is extremely well made. It provides honest historical context -- showing the brutality of the communists as well as the Nazis -- and rivots you with a good story. (2001)

The block-bluster movie based loosely on the life of "The Swamp Fox," a Revolutionary War hero from South Carolina. The film is terrific -- I've watched it four times -- and the extras on the DVD are entertaining as well. (2000)
